An all-day workshop designed to support professional women of color is coming to Covington next week.
Leadership for Professional Women of Color is slated for Wednesday, August 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Metropolitan Club.
Tarita Preston Coaching is presenting the event which will bring together more than fifty women of color from across the region.
“The all day workshop is designed to support participants in quieting the internal and external dialogue long enough to be clear on what they really want, who they truly are, and what would best serve them at this time in their professional life,” an announcement said.
More than 40 companies will be represented including the Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Company, Kroger, GE, E.W Scripps, Cincinnati Children’s, P&G, Great American Insurance, Cincinnati Police Department, UC Health, Messer Construction, Taft Law, Dinsmore & Shohl, Microsoft, Spruce Nail Shop, and the City of Cincinnati.
Preston, a professional life and leadership coach, said that she offers a “radical proposition for women of color to consider”: “What if work was a place of healing and growth?”
”I firmly believe that no matter what it is, if it’s happening to you, it’s happening for you,” Preston said. “What if everything occurring in your professional life was an opportunity for you to shift, heal or step into your own personal power? What if deeper levels of self responsibility and inner resourcefulness were available to you at any moment? Ultimately it’s time to understand that we are no longer waiting for the world to treat us differently, asking for permission, or looking for validation outside of ourselves.”
This event next week is sold out, Preston said, but a future session will be scheduled for Spring 2023.
