The arena at Northern Kentucky University has a new name.

Like all the remaining bank branches in Northern Kentucky once branded as BB&T, it is now called Truist.

BB&T merged with SunTrust Banks in December 2019 to create Truist Financial.

The 10,000-seat arena sits on Northern Kentucky University’s campus in Highland Heights and opened in 2008 as Bank of Kentucky Center.

Bank of Kentucky was bought out by BB&T and the arena’s name was changed in 2015 to reflect that.

New signs are going up at Truist Arena currently.

“We’re proud of our relationship with Northern Kentucky University and grateful for the opportunity to partner with them to create a space—a premier sports and entertainment venue—for fans to make lasting memories,” said Joe Smith, head of sponsorship and regional marketing at Truist. “We look forward to engaging with fans in meaningful ways at Truist Arena.”

In addition to hosting NKU athletics, the arena also welcomes national entertainment acts which have included Bob Dylan and Carrie Underwood.
