Fort Thomas is planning an Earth Day recycling event, come rain or shine.
On Earth Day, Sunday, April 24, Tower Park will become a hub for recycling groups to take unwanted items off the hands of residents.
Green PC Recycling and Cincinnati Recycle and Reuse Hub will be accepting items ranging from old electronic devices to plastic bags, while a number of other conservation-focused groups will be present at the park to show what they have to offer in the way of trails and programs.
The Highlands High School Green Club will raffle off a handmade canoe at the event. Tickets will go for $10 and will be sold at the event.
Chuck Keller, chair of the board for Fort Thomas Forest Conservancy, said this will be the “first time that every major conservancy in Northern Kentucky will be together.” The celebration will run from noon to 4 p.m. in Tower Park on Earth Day.
