Someone who bought a Kentucky Lottery ticket in Crittenden will have a nice boost to their annual income.
The lucky player won the second prize of $25,000 per year, for life, in the multi-state game Lucky For Life.
The top prize in the game is $365,000 per year for life.
The winning ticket sold at Ezy Stop Food Mart matched the first five white balls but missed the “Lucky Ball”, which would have yielded the higher prize.
The $25,000 per year payout has a guaranteed minimum of 20 years, and would become part of a winner’s estate if they passed away before that timeframe, a news release from the Kentucky Lottery explained.
The payment will be an annual sum of $25,000 before taxes. Second-prize winners may also choose the cash option as an option to the annuitized payment, lottery officials said.
The winner who bought the ticket in Crittenden has not yet been identified.
Lottery officials said Monday that the winner should sign the back of the winning ticket immediately and then make an appointment to claim the prize at Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize.
Lucky for Life is a multi-state game sold in 22 different states and the District of Columbia. Drawings are held nightly.
The odds of winning the second prize are 1 in 1,813,028, lottery officials said.
