Editor’s note: A previous version of this story did not explicitly state that board members Karen Allen and Jeff Beach are not currently up for re-election. Their terms will come up for re-election in 2016. This story has been edited to clarify this issue.
Members of the Fort Thomas Independent Schools (FTIS) School Board are facing re-election this fall. Tuesday was the deadline to file for election or re-election. These are the candidates who will appear on the ballot in November:
- Brad Fennell: incumbent, has served four terms in 16 years, seeking a fifth term
- Scott Johnson: incumbent, has served two terms in eight years, seeking a third term
- Lisa Duckworth: incumbent, has served 3/4 term in three years, seeking first full term*
- John Weyer: challenger
- Mary Adams: challenger
These five candidates are running to fill three spots on the School Board.
Incumbents Karen Allen and Jeff Beach have not filed for re-election, because their terms do not expire until 2016.
* Lisa Duckworth was appointed by state to fill the seat left vacant due to death of board member Gail Federle after one year in office.
