What do you
think of when you hear the word home? Everyone has a different meaning. For most home means family, friends, good food, a comfy bed and
lots of fun. The Weller Haus Bed and Breakfast is known for bringing that home experience to you, with a touch of rustic luxury.
The Weller Haus is located in Bellevue, Kentucky, just outside of downtown Cincinnati.The owners Peg Schultz and Becky Wood want to make your visit as comfortable and pleasant as
possible. Leanne Saylor, the
previous owner now helps run the bed & breakfast and event center.
The Weller Haus
was built in 1885 and was the home of Vernon and Mary Weller. The Wellers raised
their eight children in the main house. When all the children were grown, Mary
decided to start a bed and breakfast. She started it with only 2 rooms, but
business was so good she expanded into a second house that is now known as the
Trimber House. There are now three buildings on the property. The Weller Haus,
is the main house with two suites. The Trimber House has three suites and the new
Event Center. They also have a beautiful garden space where you can take
wedding pictures and just relax.

Paula Hayden and her partner, who live in Loveland, OH,
are repeat customers at the Weller Haus. They were looking for a place to go
where they can get away for a private relaxing weekend, but close to home. The
Weller Haus fit all their requirements and then some.
“What I liked about the Weller Haus is when
I went out into the garden there was an array of beautiful flowers and not to
mention that there were fresh cut flowers in your room when you arrived,”
said Hayden.

Most bed and
breakfasts require you to dine in the main area at a specific time with very limited
food choices. At the Weller house they want to make your experience more
personalized.
“Most
bed and breakfasts tell you
that you have to eat in their dining area, at a
specific time but here you can eat in your room, outside in the garden,
anywhere you so choose. Also here you are given menus when you arrive so you
can have breakfast on your schedule and you can choose your meal,” said
Saylor.
A kitchen is available for
all guests to use, which is located in the Trimber House. Your stay also includes
complimentary drinks and snacks, as well as a library and movies to
enjoy during your stay. You won’t find that in any hotel.
“The Weller Haus makes your accommodations
personal to your stay,” said Hayden. “My partner had called earlier in the week to let them
know we were coming for my birthday and they surprised us with champagne
and flowers waiting for us in the room.”
If you are
unsettled about shared facilities usually associated with B&B’s, that’s not a worry at the Weller Haus. With each suite, “We
offer your own in room bathroom and shower which are two room suites, not a single,” said Schultz.
“I’ve always wanted to open a bed and
breakfast. You get to meet new people,” said Wood.
When you are
looking for that fun weekend trip away you always want something fun to do.
Weller Haus is
walking distance from many fun attractions. Bellevue has many little shops and restaurants.
It is less than 5 minutes from Newport on the Levee and downtown Cincinnati is
also just minutes away. Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Banks,
professional sporting events and many museums are all waiting for you to
explore when you visit the Weller Haus.
There may be new
unexpected friends waiting for you once you check in. One of the suites in the Weller
Haus may have some old guests that don’t want to leave. “We’ve
had some paranormal activity interaction with some of our guests when they’ve
stayed here. Our guests have had some apparitions, flying wine glasses off the
fire place, doors opening and closing, and at times voices,” said Saylor.
Don’t let these
residents scare you away though, everyone that stays here is friendly.
Whether you are
planning a family get together, baby shower, graduation party or a wedding, the
Weller Haus’ event space is the place to be. It can be used for corporate meetings
also, they offer free Wi-Fi. The event space is a new addition to Weller Haus
and can accommodate up to 50 people or 75 if the event is a cocktail party.
