A 75-year-old Union man died, and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Boone County.

The crash happened around 10 a.m. Oct. 29 at the intersection of Hathaway Road and Sullivan Road in Union, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said an SUV was stopped at a stop sign on Riddles Run Road before its driver attempted to turn left onto Hathaway Road. The SUV pulled into the path of an oncoming pickup truck towing a trailer, causing the vehicles to collide, police said.

Marlin Hensley, 75, of Union, was riding in the front passenger seat of the SUV. He was taken to a nearby fire station, where a medical helicopter was supposed to pick him up, but he died before he could be flown to a hospital.

The SUV’s driver was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck’s driver was not injured.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash but does not believe speed, drugs or alcohol played a role. No charges have been filed.

The intersection was closed for several hours before reopening around 3:10 p.m.
