A recently published study from NestCash, a private real estate and investment group, has found that Kenton County has the lowest risk of foreclosures out of 42 counties in Kentucky.

While not as low as Kenton County, Boone and Campbell Counties also have lower foreclosure risks than other counties in the commonwealth.

The study’s authors pulled information from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and private real estate data to measure mortgage delinquency rates, the number of vacant foreclosures and other metrics to create risk scores between 0 and 100 for the counties examined. The study restricted itself to Kentucky counties with at least 12,000 housing units, or 42 out of the state’s 120 counties.

Kenton County ranked the least risky with a score of 19.4. Boone County and Campbell County scored 25.7 and 35.1, respectively. Boone County, in spite of its low risk score, had the state’s highest mortgage delinquency rate.

“Kenton County is the lowest-scoring county in Kentucky at 19.4, with the lowest published delinquency rate in the state, 0.5 percent,” reads a summary of the study. “Boone County, next door, has the highest published delinquency rate in Kentucky, 1.2 percent, but its fast market and low cost burden keep it near the bottom at 25.7.”
