Elder (OH) 56, Covington Catholic 20

Panthers (2-0) quarterback Kaden Estep tallied 339 passing yards and 114 rushing yards as Elder spoiled CovCath’s home opener.

The Colonels (1-1) traded blows early on to get within 21-13 in the second, but Elder took over from there. Estep threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as they scored the game’s final 21 points.

Colonels quarterback Dylan Courtney threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, Jason Fedor his lead receiver with three catches for 146 yards and a score. Kiyan Miller added 55 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Holy Cross 41, Bracken County 6

Brian Ferguson took the first play from scrimmage 62 yards for a touchdown and the Indians cruised from there in Brooksville.

Ferguson added another rushing score before Dustin Wilson took matters into his own hands. The Holy Cross (2-0) senior blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown and later scored on a 80-yard touchdown run to make it 27-6 Holy Cross in the fourth.

Charles Oglesby and Jacob Rieselman provided rushing touchdowns late.

Campbell County 47, Southwestern 14

The Camels improved to 2-0 for the second straight season in a blowout victory Friday night in Claryville.

Xander Guy threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns, Ayden Earls his main target with three catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Cade Anthrop and Aiden Seibert also added game-changing touchdowns, Anthrop’s a long receiving touchdown, Seibert an interception return for a score.
