Downtown Covington will soon become a giant puzzle board.

Code Crackers Puzzle Hunts is slated to host its first “Urban Adventure Puzzle Hunt,” an interactive team experience that challenges participants to explore the city, uncover hidden clues and solve puzzles together.

Unlike a traditional scavenger hunt, the Urban Adventure Puzzle Hunt combines exploration, observation and problem solving with a social experience designed to help people see familiar surroundings in a new way.

Participants can bring their own group or come on their own and join a team. Each team will head out into downtown Covington, using details found in the city’s art, architecture and surroundings to uncover clues and solve a series of puzzles.

Solving their own puzzle is only part of the challenge.

At the end of the hunt, all participants will gather at Second Story for drinks and a final collaborative challenge that requires information collected by the different teams. Everyone must work together to crack the final solution.

“We wanted to create an experience that gives people a reason to really look at the city around them while also giving them an easy, fun way to connect with other people,” said Jill Morenz, creator of Code Crackers Puzzle Hunts. “You might walk past the same mural or building dozens of times without noticing the details that suddenly become important when they’re part of a puzzle.”

The event is Sept. 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Downtown Covington. The gathering location will be at Second Story, 100 W 6th St #2. Tickets are $25 per person and the event is 21-plus. Register here.
