Daniel Warner has lived in Park Hills for six years and said he is running for city council because he has fallen in love with the community.
He said traditions such as the annual Memorial Day Parade, fall hay rides and December Luminary Night give the city its unique charm.
Warner faces Marty Boyer, Joe Brandner, Lee Burkett, Greg Claypole, Joe Daugherty, Steve Elkins, Dan Lutz, Pamela Spoor and Carlton Trinkle in the Nov. 3 general election.
“Park Hills is financially strong, safe and beautiful,” Warner said. “We received an A-plus rating and were named the number one best place to live in Kentucky in a recent report by Niche.com. I would be honored to be part of continuing this legacy as a member of the city council.”
Warner said he would bring a numbers-minded, data-driven approach to the council. His professional background includes financial oversight, project management, systems administration, inventory management and forecasting.
He said he enjoys studying how local governments manage public assets, from budgets and tax rates to roads, parks and public safety. He said he wants to understand the intricacies and help make them work in a way that benefits the common good in an efficient way.
If elected, Warner said his top priorities would be improving road and sidewalk safety and expanding family-friendly amenities.
He said he would like to see sidewalks added to streets that currently lack them, pointing to Arlington Road between Old State and Hamilton roads as one example. Warner said adding sidewalks would improve safety for pedestrians, including families walking to Trolley Park.
Warner also supports completing the proposed restroom project at Trolley Park, noting there are currently no public restrooms nearby, adding that the project would make it easier for families to spend more time enjoying the park.
