Brian Bumgarner is one of nine candidates running for a spot on the Ludlow City Council. The council has six seats.

Bumgarner was appointed to fill the seat of former Council Member Abby Miller in July after Miller resigned. He is a comparatively new resident to the city, although he said his wife was born and raised in Ludlow. He also said his “in-laws have been active volunteers in Ludlow for over 50 years, and I understand the significance and importance of community involvement.”

“The dedication to orderly fiscal management and community improvement is what motivates me to work in public service,” Bumgarner said. “However, for me personally, I want to make sure the city’s revenue and expenses are managed efficiently in order for Ludlow to have financial stability for years to come. This includes a thorough examination of all budget line items from the top down and bottom up.”

Managing the budget well and improving the community was Bumgarner’s overriding concern in his correspondence with LINK nky.

“I want to work with the council and mayor to determine the most beneficial way to allocate tax dollars across Public Works, Police, Fire, etc.,” Bumgarner said. “I also want to ensure we continue to plan for the future needs of Ludlow as we continue to grow.”

He concluded his statement by saying he wanted to bring a “completely objective viewpoint and open-mindedness to all matters brought before council.”
