To the Editor,
I’m asking voters for something simple in this election: vote for sanity.
Thomas Massie has shown up. He has debated. He has taken questions. He has stood before voters and defended his record in public, as an elected representative should. Whether one agrees with him on every issue is beside the point: he respects voters enough to engage them.
His challenger, Ed Gallrein, has declined every debate opportunity and has not answered major voter questionnaires from pro-life organizations such as Northern Kentucky Right to life and Kentucky Right to Life. Voters are seeking to understand where Ed stands. How can voters make an informed decision when a candidate refuses to tell them what he believes?
That is not transparency. That is not accountability. And frankly, it is an insult to the voters.
A member of Congress is supposed to represent the people of his district; not serve as a rubber stamp for any president, including Donald Trump, and not act as a pawn in efforts to consolidate executive power. The Framers did not design Congress to be submissive. They designed it to be independent, deliberative, and jealous of its constitutional authority.
Thomas Massie understands that. He has often defended Congress’s role even when politically inconvenient, especially on war powers, spending, surveillance, and executive overreach.
At a moment when too many politicians ask for blind loyalty instead of informed consent, we need representatives with backbone, not placeholders.
If a candidate will not debate you, will not answer questions, and will not clearly tell you what he believes, why hand him power?
Vote for independent judgment. Vote for constitutional government. Vote for sanity.
Vote for Thomas Massie.
Sincerely
Luke Brueggemann
