A new public workshop is set to take place in Erlanger on May 5, mayor Jessica Fette announced at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. Led in conjunction with representatives from the Kentucky Transport Cabinet, the forum will feature a chance for public comment regarding the proposed reconfiguration of Dixie Highway that became public in February

The workshop will take place in the Erlanger city council chambers from 6-8 p.m. with public comment taking place from 6-6:30 p.m.; followed by a presentation by KYTC at 7 p.m., and then a resumption of public comment following the presentation’s conclusion.

The meeting is the last scheduled of three in each of the affected cities of Erlanger, Florence and Elsmere. The Florence workshop is scheduled for April 23, from 6-8 p.m., and will take place at the Florence Government Center; the Elsmere workshop occurred on April 7. Mayor Fette encouraged residents to attend each meeting, if possible, and stressed the regional community the three cities share.

Following the meetings, the comments and concerns will be brought back to the KYTC central office in Frankfort. From there, the final decision will be made in the state House and Senate chambers.

Above all, though, Fette encouraged the community to keep up the level of engagement that had originally caused the project to be paused.

“Get the word out: this decision is not made yet. They are truly listening” she stressed.
