The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will slow traffic on portions of Interstates 71/75 in Kenton County this week to accommodate overnight utility work.
Starting Dec. 15, road crews will begin relocating transmission lines near the 12th Street, or KY 1120, interchange. To complete this work, KYTC will implement a series of rolling roadblocks from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Each slowdown is expected to last about 15 minutes. Traffic on affected stretches of the interstate, along with several ramps, will be temporarily stopped.
Drivers may encounter delays on the following ramps during the operation:
- 5th Street (KY 8) ramps at Exit 191
- Kyles Lane (KY 1072) ramps at Exit 189
- Dixie Highway (U.S. 25) ramps at Exit 188
- Various Ohio ramps feeding I-71/75 southbound
KYTC, law enforcement and the Ohio Department of Transportation will assist with traffic control. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes when possible and not attempt to pass crews stationed at blocked ramps.
If the weather allows, the work will conclude by 5 a.m. Dec. 19. Officials will provide updates if additional nights are required.
