Habitat for Humanity’s biannual Rock the Block event will return to Covington in November.
The event will see volunteers make repairs and other structural improvements to seven homes in the Botany Hills neighborhood and a local school.
“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Covington and the Botany Hills Neighborhood Association,” said Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati spokesperson Laura Wells in a press release. “The areas impacted are looking forward to seeing some hard work being put back into the place they call home.”
The event will take place across three days, starting Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. with a kick-off event featuring statements from Mayor Ron Washington and other speakers. Volunteers will meet for the kick-off event at the former location of Willie’s Sports Cafe on 401 Crescent Avenue.
From there, volunteers will take to the streets to “complete tasks such as deck repairs, paint touch-ups, landscaping and gravel spreading to brighten up these neighborhoods,” according to Habitat for Humanity’s press release.
A separate team of volunteers will go to Prince of Peace Catholic School on Pike Street to make improvements to the interior.
