The now-former Principal of Summit View Academy, Jason Loreaux, has resigned following the initiation of an internal investigation by the district earlier this week.

The reasons for the investigation are currently unknown.

The district sent out a letter, which LINK nky obtained, on Tuesday, informing them that Loreaux had been placed on leave.

“We want to inform you that the district received information today that has initiated an internal investigation regarding Summit View Principal, Mr. Loreaux,” the letter reads. “While he is on leave, Mrs. Julie Pouncy will serve as the school’s primary contact and will assume leadership responsibilities to make sure daily operations continue without interruption.”

Pouncy was the assistant principal at the time the letter was sent out. A subsequent letter the district sent to LINK nky directly on Thursday morning stated that Loreaux had resigned and that Pouncy had assumed the role of interim principal.

Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb is the signatory of the letter, the entirety of which you can read here.

“Summit View Academy through the work of their outstanding staff, supportive parents/community and amazing students is experiencing strong momentum and growth, and that will not change,” Webb writes. “Our office is committed to providing the necessary support to ensure this positive trajectory continues without interruption.”

LINK nky made a records request for Loreaux’s personnel file, but the district denied it due to the investigation still being open.
