The fire protection districts of Hebron and Point Pleasant finalized a merger last week. The combined departments will now operate as a single organization under the Hebron Fire Protection District.
“The merger reflects years of discussions, hard work and commitment by both fire
districts to deliver the best possible emergency services to our residents,” said Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore. “It is a win-win-win for residents, first responders and fire districts as they continue to provide high quality and specialized services.”
Moore signed an executive order enabling the merger in March, and the two departments have been working since then to streamline their operations. The new district will cover roughly 50 square miles of Boone County and will provide service for residential, commercial and rural areas.
The merger, which was finalized on July 1, will not reduce service delivery for anyone in the affected areas, nor will it result in the closure of stations or the loss of fire jobs.
“Since the signing of the executive order in March, our team of dedicated firefighters and emergency medical personnel have been hard at work preparing for this day,” said Adam Peddicord, chief of Hebron Fire Protection District. “The combined agency is proud to serve this expanded community in emergency prevention, preparedness and response.”
