If you want to support others in your community, here are some thoughtful ideas for giving this holiday season.

Many NKY organizations are collecting items to help families during the holidays. Whether they need coats and blankets for the cold months ahead or food items to help with holiday meals, here are places you can give to this season.

Local shelters and food banks to donate to this holiday season:

Be Concerned food pantry accepts donations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations can be dropped off or sent to 1100 Pike St. in Covington. The pantry’s list of requested items can be found here.

Brighton Center maintains a wish list year-round. Donations of new or gently used items can be dropped off at Thrifting on Eastern, 2014 Eastern Ave. in Covington during business hours Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items in need are categorized here. Donations can also be made and delivered directly to the Brighton Center by shopping its Amazon wish list.

Care Mission is currently requesting coats, blankets, shampoo, toothpaste and toilet paper. It is located at 11093 Alexandria Pike in Alexandria. For more information and other ways to give, click here.

Go Pantry has a list of items it is requesting for its Christmas break boxes, which are provided to kids in need of food while out of school for the holidays. The list of items and drop-off locations can be found here. Other ways to donate to Go Pantry are through its Amazon wish list or Walmart wish list.

Henry Hosea House soup kitchen has created an annual giving brochure that can be accessed here.

Hope Ministries is accepting donations of food, clothing and small housewares. Call (859) 371-1887 to make an appointment to drop off donations. Hope Ministries is located at 263 Main St. in Florence. More information can be found here.

St. Vincent De Paul Northern Kentucky, accepts donated items at its blue donation bins, which are located at its Florence, Cold Spring, Falmouth, and Erlanger locations. Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday during business hours, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Donations to the Erlanger store stop at 6 p.m. Sunday donation hours are noon to 5 p.m. To find a list of accepted and non-accepted items, click here.

St. Vincent De Paul Northern Kentucky food pantry items can be shopped on its Amazon wish list. Other pantry items can be viewed here.  

The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky urgently needs gloves, hats, and blankets for its guests this winter. New or gently used items can be dropped off at 436 W 13th St. in the Covington facility. The shelter is open at all hours to accept donations. Click here for more donation information.

Welcome House has eight different donation categories. Donations can be brought to Welcome House Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. without an appointment. For more information and the list of items, click here.
