The inside-out tandem of Haylie Webb and Brynli Pernell nearly outscored Bishop Brossart by themselves in Simon Kenton’s 56-39 non-region home win.

Webb scored 23 points dominating the paint and Pernell scored 15. Webb scored 13 in the first half and Pernell scored 10.

Rachel Shewmaker led Bishop Brossart with 15 points.

Simon Kenton (14-5) has won four in a row. The Pioneers play in the Louisville Invitational Tournament on Jan. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Valley.

Bishop Brossart (12-4) hosts Lloyd Memorial on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Girls Basketball

Holy Cross 66, Campbell County 34

The Indians dominated on the road one day after a big district win at Notre Dame.

Aumani Nelson led Holy Cross with 17 points and Julia Hunt scored 15. Miyah Wimzie and Alyssa Arlinghaus followed with 12 and 10, respectively.

Madeleine Barbian scored seven points to lead Campbell County.

Holy Cross (14-5) travels to Beechwood on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. district game.

Campbell County (13-5) hosts Oldham County on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Ludlow 57, Bellevue 52

The Panthers won their sixth game in the last seven meetings, beating the Tigers for the second time this year.

Spencer Brandenburg led the way scoring 19 points and Ethan Powell scored 16. Elijah Perrin followed with 12.

Noah Frommeyer led Bellevue with 14 points and Zach Mertens scored 12.

Ludlow (10-8) travels to Villa Madonna on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Bellevue (11-7) plays at Dayton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Newport 73, St. Henry 28

The Wildcats used their athleticism to overwhelm the Crusaders in their ninth straight win.

Newport won the rebounding battle, 40-21 and dished off 19 assists to just four turnovers. James Turner led the Wildcats with nine rebounds to go with 12 points.

The Wildcats put four players in double figures. Jabari Covington led the way scoring 21 points, making four 3-pointers. DeShaun Jackson and Griffin Starks scored 15 each.

Andrew Reis led St. Henry with 10 points and Caden Kunstek scored nine.

Newport (17-3) takes on Sayre in the All “A” State Tournament on Jan. 25 at 8:30 a.m. at The Corbin Arena.

St. Henry (6-11) hosts Newport Central Catholic on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Campbell County-Montgomery County postponed

Inclement weather forced the postponement of the 10th Region battle. Campbell County head coach Brent Sowder said the game will be made up Feb. 17.

Campbell County (13-4) plays Lewis County at Noon on Saturday in the Coach Lake Kelly Classic at Fleming County.
