Uber Freight, a logistics platform subsidiary of the ride-sharing giant, has signed a lease for 20,000 square feet worth of office space at Newport on the Levee, reported the Cincinnati Business Courier.
The Uber Freight platform matches truck drivers with cargo that needs to be shipped, as well as providing customers with real-time tracking and dynamic pricing.
The company is no stranger to Northern Kentucky. It currently has a Transplace office in Florence. Transplace is a logistics management company that operates underneath Uber Freight.
Reztark Design Studio will be redesigning the Class A office space. In turn, Uber Freight hopes the space can house 160 employees. Starting in 2023, the company will begin with 90 employees with plans to grow the employee fleet as they acclimate to the new space.
The lease is part of an increasing presence of logistics companies in Newport. In May, MegaCorp Logistics announced their regional headquarters would be an anchor tenant in the Ovation development. As a whole, Northern Kentucky is home to a wide variety of logistics companies such as M&P Logistics, Verst Logistics, Whitehorse Freight, DHL and Amazon.
