The City of Dayton receives $70,000 in county road aid emergency funds for a slide repair on 7th Avenue to make travel safer for motorists that rely on the road.
The repairs will take place on 7th, located east of Dayton, Pike extending east to the end of the road for nearly a mile.
“The 1100 block of 7th Avenue has had some slippage issues for years,” Dayton City Administrator Jay Fossett said. “The city requested emergency road aid from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet through the Municipal Road Aid program to pay for geotechnical work needed to determine the scope of work that needs to be done in this area. And to pay for the design of improvements needed to stabilize the hillside and the road.”
Fossett said the city plans to seek additional funding for the construction improvements needed to stabilize the hillside and road.
“The city will not make the road improvements until we find a funding source for this work, which means that such work would likely not happen until next year at the earliest,” Fossett said.
