Another week of high school football is in the books. Here is a look at how it played out in Northern Kentucky.

Bishop Brossart 38, Paris 13
One publication picked the Bishop Brossart Mustangs (7-2 overall) and Paris Greyhounds (6-2) to finish in the bottom part of Class 1A, District 5.
Instead, they battled for the district championship at the Mustang Athletic Complex on Friday night. The Mustangs won it again with a convincing 38-13 victory. Brossart finished 3-0 in district action and Paris finished 2-1.
“We played like I thought we would play last week,” said Paul Wiggins, Brossart head coach. “But it’s a good time to do it. We didn’t know where we were going to go with some stuff and these guys rallied around each other and took care of business when it needed to.”
Bishop Brossart outgained Paris, 283-165 in total yards including a 193 to minus-11 total on the ground. Sophomore quarterback Keegan Gulley is out for the season.
But the Mustangs have continued to find ways to win despite the adversity. Senior running back Evan Orth rushed for 104 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns with senior quarterback Austin Schadler rushing for 62 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns.
Schadler also completed 4 of 7 passes for 90 yards. Senior Sam Willike had two catches for 41 yards and a touchdown for Brossart.
Brossart has its bye week next Friday before finishing the season Oct. 28 against winless Pendleton County (0-9) at 7:30 p.m.
Newport Central Catholic 55, Dayton 0
The Thoroughbreds (7-1, 2-0) scored 27 points in the first quarter and never looked back knocking off the host Greendevils (3-5, 1-1) in Class 1A, District 4 action. NewCath led 41-0 at halftime earning the running clock on its way to the district championship.
NewCath outgained Dayton, 328-144 in total offense including a 166-63 advantage on the ground. Senior Luke Runyon rushed for 92 yards on three carries and two touchdowns with junior Demetrick Welch carrying the ball six times for 70 yards and three touchdowns.
Junior quarterback Kolton Smith kept the Dayton defense off-balance completing 9 of 14 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Matt Landrum had two catches for 64 yards and one touchdown. Runyon and Landrum also had interceptions defensively.
Dayton senior running back Landyn Hopper came into the game with 1,088 yards rushing on 121 carries and 14 touchdowns. NewCath held him to 48 yards rushing on 11 carries.
Dayton concludes district play at Ludlow (3-5) on Friday at 7 p.m. NewCath had Bellevue (0-8) on the schedule next. Thoroughbreds Head Coach Stephen Lickert said it will most likely be a bye week with Bellevue calling off the rest of the season because of injury and safety concerns with only 15 healthy players.
Ludlow 1, Bellevue 0
The Panthers (3-5, 1-1) earned the district win over the Tigers (0-8, 0-2) through a forfeit following Bellevue’s cancellation of the remainder of its season due to health and safety concerns with just 15 available players.
Ludlow concludes district play on Friday against Dayton (3-5) at 7 p.m.
Walton-Verona 28, Shawnee 0
The Bearcats (7-2) blanked the host Golden Eagles (2-6, 1-3) to move to 4-0 in Class 2A, District 5 action and record their second shut-out of the season.
Walton-Verona outgained Shawnee, 315-95 in total offense including a 194-49 advantage on the ground. Senior running back Braden Daniels led the way rushing for 110 yards on 11 carries and junior quarterback Jackson Smith rushed for 69 yards on 14 carries.
But the Bearcats displayed their balance. Smith completed 13 of 20 passes for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Geoffrey Kratzenberg had eight catches for 47 yards to lead Walton-Verona.
Walton-Verona concludes the regular season at home against the Trimble County Raiders (3-5, 1-3) on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Cooper 54, Boone County 0
The visiting Jaguars (5-3, 2-1) stayed in position to earn at least a share of the Class 5A, District 5 crown with a convincing win leading 41-0 at halftime over the Rebels (3-5, 0-4) and forcing the running clock.
Cooper outgained Boone County, 455-101 in total offense including 344-77 through the air. Jaguars freshman quarterback Cam O’Hara completed 12 of 19 passes for that total including six to senior running back Eli White for 176 yards and one touchdown. White also had 65 yards rushing on nine carries and two touchdowns.
Cooper travels to Highlands (7-2) on Friday for a 7 p.m. game. Boone County has its bye week before finishing the season at home against the Tates Creek Commodores (2-6) on Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
Holmes 48, Harrison County 15
The Bulldogs snapped a two-game skid to win its first district game and improve to 5-3 on the year. Holmes hosts Scott next week in district action.
Ryle 48, Dixie Heights 21
The Raiders handed the Colonels their fifth straight loss as Ryle claimed victory in this Class 6A, District 6 game. Next week, Ryle (5-3) plays at Simon Kenton on Saturday. Dixie (2-6) hosts Campbell Co. on Friday.
