WAVE Foundation, Newport Aquarium’s nonprofit organization, is holding its annual gala, Nauti Nite, on Friday, Oct. 7 at the aquarium.
While interacting with alligators, penguins and other animals, guests can sample food from 20 local restaurants. There will also be live entertainment and a live auction. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
Proceeds from Nauti Nite benefit WAVE Foundation’s conservation efforts, youth education, and volunteer programs.
“Each year community members, business leaders, and socialites enjoy a wonderful evening in support of ocean conservation,” said board Chair Tabitha Tolliver. “The purchase of two tickets can send a deserving child to camp WAVE at the Newport Aquarium, can sponsor two nesting boxes for African Penguins in South Africa, or provide reusable utensils for an entire classroom.”
WAVE’s mission, according to the organization, “is to excite, engage and educate the community about the wonders of aquatic life and the importance of conservation.”
“Nauti Nite is our biggest fundraising event of the year,” Tolliver said. “The funds raised are crucial to our local education, conservation efforts, and volunteer programs.”
