Twenty-two Covington streets will be covered with 80,000 square yards of asphalt as part of a $995,000 project that began this week.
Work on the 1 ½ inch thick layer of asphalt started on Tando Drive in South Covington. The work will then move northward on the streets listed below.
“It’ll take about a month, and when it’s done, drivers will be a lot happier,” said Bill Matteoli, assistant director of Covington’s Public Works Department.
Independent engineers rated the condition of Covington’s streets, which prioritized improvements based on roads’ current condition, traffic concentration and those awaiting treatment.
“We know there are a number of streets that need attention, and we’re tackling as many as possible each year,” Matteoli said.
The list of streets include locations in the neighborhoods of Austinburg, Botany Hills, Central Business District, Eastside, Helentown, Kenton Hills, Latonia Milldale, Peaselburg, Ritte’s East Latonia, South Covington, and Wallace Woods.
