Three Cooper High School students were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries after their bus driver went into cardiac arrest in Burlington.

The incident happened at the intersection of Hanover Boulevard and Collier Lane, where the bus crashed into several trees in the backyard of a residence on Sherwood Court.

Deputies arrived at the scene less than three minutes after the incident, according to police, and found the driver in full cardiac arrest. They performed CPR until Burlington Fire/EMS arrived to take over, and then they began assessing the students for injuries.

The bus driver was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit, according to police.

One of the injured students was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the other two were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.
