The LINK nky Team of the Week for Feb. 2-8 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Beechwood boys basketball team.
A bonus for the Beechwood boys basketball team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the winter sports season. They are the eighth TOW award winner for the season, joining the Boone County boys basketball team, Conner archery team, St. Henry girls basketball team, Ryle archery team, Highlands dance team, Highlands swim and dive teams and Ryle boys swim and dive team taking home the other TOW honors. The weekly nominations and winners for winter will run through February (only two TOW winners left for the season!). A vote will follow for TOS when the winter sports season is wrapped up to determine the winner. The winner for TOS will then be one of three nominees for Team of the Year voting in June. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice and they will then be up for Team of the Year (TOY).
For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.
Check the sports page online Monday for new Team of the Week nominees!
BEECHWOOD BOYS BASKETBALL

The Tigers went 3-0 last week, the most important victory coming over Holy Cross as they put themselves in position for the No. 2 seed in the 35th District tournament. They also defeated Boone County and Lockland (OH).
The 3-0 week improved them to 17-7 on the season as sophomore Dylan Topmiller continues to lead the way with 20.4 points per game. Owen McCormack is also putting up double figures with 12.7 points per game. Kingston Brockett, Quentin Knasel and Ryan Smith are all at 6.8 to 6.5 points per game, respectively.
Congratulations to our other nominees as well: Ryle girls basketball, St. Henry archery, Notre Dame Academy bowling and Covington Catholic bowling.
