The LINK nky Team of the Week for October 26-Nov. 1 presented by Ortho Cincy is the Lloyd Memorial football team.
A bonus for the Lloyd Memorial football team is that they are now eligible for Team of the Season (TOS) for the fall sports season. They join the Holy Cross football team, Walton-Verona football team, Newport Central Catholic girls soccer team, Villa Madonna volleyball team, Ludlow girls soccer team, Beechwood girls soccer team, Campbell County boys soccer team, Simon Kenton football team and the St. Henry boys cross country team as the 10 award winners for the season. Now comes even more excitement. Team of the Season voting will begin on Nov. 17 and run through the end of the month. The Team of the Season winner will be announced Dec. 1. The winner for TOS will then be one of three nominees for Team of the Year voting in June. Each TOS winner will receive a $500 scholarship that will go to an athlete of their choice and they will then be up for Team of the Year (TOY).
For the team that is awarded TOY, online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year. The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.
LLOYD MEMORIAL FOOTBALL
The Juggernauts capped off their first 10-0 undefeated regular season since 1995 with a 45-7 victory over Boone County.
They outscored the opponent 416-139 this season and finished No. 2 in RPI in 3A, meaning they won’t have to leave Erlanger for the postseason until the state championship.
They continued their chase for a state title on Thursday with a first round victory over Bath County. They’ll host the East Carter/Henry County winner next week in the second round.
Congratulations to our other nominees as well: Notre Dame Academy volleyball and Scott volleyball.
