Dayton, KY — December 19, 2025 — The inaugural class of Project 1099 will be recognized for their achievements on January 5, 2026, during halftime at the Dayton Green Devils varsity boys basketball game. The event will take place at Dayton High School, and the community is invited to join in celebrating these young leaders.

**About Project 1099:**

Project 1099 is a youth mentorship program based in Dayton, Kentucky, designed to empower 5th to 7th graders through a comprehensive 10-week summer curriculum. This year, six participants—Soloman Sturgill, Izaiah Sturgill, Elijah Bell, Erik Moran, Wyatt Perry, and Damien Ware—successfully completed the program.

Throughout the summer, the boys engaged in activities that developed essential life skills:

– **Week 1-2:** Learning to tie a tie and make basic meals.
– **Week 3:** Mastering the art of a proper handshake.
– **Week 4-5:** Running a lemonade stand, earning $460 total, and learning entrepreneurship basics.
– **Week 6:** Physical fitness training with Division I athletes Kameron and Christion Horton.
– **Week 7:** A talk on the importance of marriage by Ed York.
– **Week 8-9:** Field trips to Jeff Ruby’s for a kitchen tour and the grand opening of Wenzel Whiskey, meeting local dignitaries including Governor Andy Beshear.

**Recognition Ceremony:**

At the halftime ceremony, each participant will be individually recognized and awarded a plaque. The boys have already received $99 each as a reward, with options to invest or support their entrepreneurial goals.

**Join Us:**

Community members are encouraged to attend and show support. The basketball game begins at 7:30 PM, with the recognition taking place at halftime. Afterward, there will be photo opportunities with a special backdrop.
