The City of Erlanger is very pleased today to announce the completion of and unveil the beautiful Eons dog park mural that is painted with precision on a retaining wall from a former concrete plant at 645 Erlanger Road, north of Donaldson Highway and slightly west of I-75. In the coming months, the mural will represent both a backdrop and a recognizable landmark for the first major phase of the Eons adventure park project—-a dog park that will give our residents, visitors and canines alike the opportunity to interact and enjoy the time outdoors. The City of Erlanger anticipates cutting the ribbon to open the dog park in the late spring of 2026.

The art club at Dixie Heights High School approached the City of Erlanger about dedicating their time and talents to painting the mural. In total, the school gave more than 60 hours to tracing and painting the mural, saving the City of Erlanger tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars by working together on the project.

“It’s important to make a difference in our community using art. I believe that’s a lesson our students can learn through this initiative,” said Cierra Bevins, the art club advisor at Dixie Heights High School. “I’ve had all kinds of students come up to me and said they’ve come out with their family after picking up milkshakes just to be together and admire their work. It wasn’t a difficult process. It just took a lot of time.”

Already presented with the design, dozens of students and adult volunteers spent more than a month painting the mural on a wall that stands 11 feet tall by 235 feet wide. The Eons logo is featured prominently in the middle, flanked with monikers such as “Erlanger KY” and “Discover Endless Wonder” that reflect the ambitious and attainable vision of the Eons Adventure Park, to bring people together in the spirit of health, recreation, workforce development and community in our city and beyond.

“It’s going to have such an impact on me because I’ve done it,” said art student Bailey Wartman. “It’s going to make so many people happy and it’s exciting to be a part of.”

The work consisted of scaling the concept, tracing the design onto the wall and then carrying out the vision using a “paint by numbers” approach. Individual colors corresponded to different segments of the mural, and Erlanger Mayor Jessica Fette said she is elated with the community involvement and sense of ownership in the outcome that it organically fosters.

“Schools are approaching us. People want to be involved in this wonderful project,” said Fette. “Eons is doing everything that I could want it to do, that the community could want it to do. It is truly bringing people together. I absolutely love the mural and am so grateful for the vibrance it will add to our community.”

Eons is a planned nature-inspired adventure park located in the urban woodlands of Erlanger and extends throughout the Northern Kentucky region, where all generations can wander, play, learn, escape and explore forever. The vision calls for hiking and biking trails and countless amenities to encourage our residents and visitors to thrive in their time outdoors.

“The dog park mural will be a beautiful trailhead for the entire park system,” said Public Works Director Kevin Quinn. “I can see these students from Dixie Heights bringing their families to this spot for years, feeling fulfilled that they had a part of such a special project.”

Dixie Heights art student Brayden Golsch summed up the indelible mark that the Dixie Heights art club has left, quite literally, on the Eons dog park.

“I’ll probably tell everyone to go and see the mural. That I was part of that. Dixie was part of that. Now it’s part of you guys and the community.”

The City of Erlanger extends our deepest gratitude to Dixie Heights High School and the Art Club for partnering with us to create such a beautiful mural for our community. The project showcases local talent, strengthens community pride and delivers an incredible result while being mindful of taxpayer resources. This is what partnership is about!
