How parents, schools in NKY are building community together

When April Draine moved her family to Northern Kentucky in 2022, she became a bridge between her kids and their new schools. By joining Ryle High School’s School-Based Decision Making Council, she found that strong leadership and proactive communication—like that of Principal Matt Schafer—help families feel connected and supported.

That idea is at the core of this LINK nky Super Issue on education. Across NKY’s school districts, families, educators, and leaders are navigating big questions: how to measure student success, how to retain great teachers and how to better support children from their earliest years.

Keep reading to find stories on partnerships that strengthen family-school ties, the realities of teacher turnover and early childhood efforts.
