At LINK nky, we believe that educators – whether they are teachers or principals, tutors or superintendents – are at the heart of our community’s success. The Educator of the Week contest is our way of recognizing and celebrating the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.
By highlighting their dedication, creativity, and impact, we hope to shine a light on the important role educators play in shaping the future—and to give our community a chance to show its appreciation for the people who make a lasting difference in our classrooms.
Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types, and geographic locations.

Why Hitch nominated Webster:
I would like to nominate this special education teacher for Educator of the Week for recently completing their master’s degree and demonstrating an ongoing commitment to professional growth. Educator: Jennifer Twehues
Role: Principal and teacher at St. Philip School in Melbourne
Nominator: Jordan Landrum
Why Landrum nominated Twehues:
I nominate Mrs. Jennifer Twehues for Teacher of the Week. As both a full-time 5th and 6th grade teacher and the principal of St. Philip School, she embodies servant leadership, dedication, and heart in everything she does. Quite simply, she is the heartbeat of our school community.
Balancing the responsibilities of classroom teacher and principal is no small task, yet Mrs. Twehues does so with grace, energy, and unwavering commitment. In her classroom, she challenges students to think critically, grow academically, and become confident leaders. She sets high expectations while providing the encouragement and support each child needs to succeed. Her students know they are valued, believed in, and capable of great things.
Under her leadership, St. Philip School has experienced remarkable academic growth. MAP test scores have soared thanks to her clear vision, strategic direction, and focus on data-driven instruction. She works closely with teachers to analyze results, implement best practices, and ensure that every student is making measurable progress. Her leadership has created a culture where excellence is expected and achievement is celebrated.
Beyond academics, Mrs. Twehues is deeply committed to forming students of faith and character. She is a person who leads by example. She demonstrates compassion, integrity, and service in her daily actions. She organizes and supports numerous community service initiatives that teach students the importance of giving back. Most recently, she spearheaded a school-wide sock collection for Hope Ministries, providing essential items for individuals and families in need. Her efforts consistently connect students to real-world opportunities to live out their faith through service.
Mrs. Twehues is also a constant source of support for faculty and families. She is present in the hallways, at school events, at athletic games, and in parish activities. She is encouraging, always listening, always leading. She fosters a welcoming, family-like environment where students feel safe, teachers feel supported, and parents feel heard. Her door is always open, and her leadership style reflects both strength and humility.
Whether she is teaching a lesson, mentoring a staff member, planning a school initiative, organizing outreach efforts, or greeting students each morning at the front door, Mrs. Twehues gives her whole heart to St. Philip School. Her passion for Catholic education, her tireless work ethic, and her deep love for her students and staff make her exceptionally deserving of this recognition.
For her outstanding leadership, dedication to academic excellence, commitment to service, and the countless ways she strengthens our school community each day, Mrs. Jennifer Twehues is truly Teacher of the Week.

Educator: James Stebbins
Role: Teacher at Covington Latin School
Nominator: Samantha Darpel
Why Darpel nominated Stebbins:
Mr. Stebbins is an educator who puts his students first. Always. Whether he is taking students to Latin conventions or to Perfect North for ski club, he is always going the extra mile. In the classroom, he teaches two of the hardest subjects, but that doesn’t mean his courses aren’t engaging. Students are challenged to think of the world in new ways and to approach life with curiosity and vitality. Students know that he cares for them and their goals, often meeting with them during his breaks or after school. He has dedicated his career to his students, and they are all the better for it!
