Eligible Kentuckians can now begin to request absentee ballots at the secretary of state’s absentee portal.

The portal opened this week and will remain open until May 5.

Only certain voters are eligible to receive an absentee ballot. To see if you qualify, consult the Secretary of State’s dedicated webpage, which outlines all of the criteria for voting absentee.

You can request an absentee ballot by going to the state’s online voter information portal and choosing the option at the top of the page. The website also has information on how to register to vote, where to find your polling place, sample ballots for different areas and other helpful information related to the upcoming election.

Follow the instructions in your absentee ballot packet to learn where to mail your ballot. Alternatively, you can drop off your completed absentee ballot or cast your absentee ballot in person at select locations in the county of your permanent residence.
