The Boone County Public Library received a $9,000 Website and Technology Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to support an upgrade of the library’s internal communication system.
According to a press release from the library system, the grant will fund the purchase of new equipment to upgrade the outdated phone system to a modern, cloud-based communication platform, improving call quality and reliability across the system’s six branches.
“Our current system has reached the end of its lifecycle,” Information Technology Director at Boone County Public Library Michael Savarino said in the release. “This upgrade will provide a more reliable, flexible and scalable communication solution that better supports staff and improves the experience for our patrons.”
The existing phone system is over 20 years old and is no longer supported by its vendor.
