Northern Kentucky University broke ground on its new tennis complex Tuesday.

Once complete, the complex will contain six tennis courts and will serve as the primary facility for the university’s tennis programs. Construction is expected to be completed by June.

“For our student-athletes, this tennis complex will mean home,” said Director of Athletics Christina Roybal in a press release. “It reflects momentum across NKU athletics and the pride, efforts and commitment the Norse community shares with us every day. These partnerships make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes, and our programs will feel the impact of this contribution for years to come.”

RossTarrant will serve as the project’s lead architect with contractors Tarkett and Heapy Engineers as the lead engineering firm. The complex will serve both NKU’s student-athlete population for official training as well as the general population for recreation.

“The new complex is a complete game changer, not only for student-athletes but for the greater student body, as well,” said freshman tennis player Syndey Zakic. “This is a guiding step for the program, and I am so excited for the future of our tennis teams.”
