The Black Balloon Project, a Northern Kentucky-based nonprofit, is hosting an art gallery focused on substance use disorder, recovery and the impact of overdose on families.

The free event is scheduled for Feb. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Receptions Event Center in Erlanger.

The exhibition’s centerpiece will be a photography collection by Gabi Deaton, documenting more than 160 families who have lost loved ones to overdose. The images aim to humanize the overdose crisis by connecting faces and stories to the statistics.

The gallery will showcase work by local artists exploring themes of grief, recovery, and hope. Additionally, Start Today Harm Reduction will be on site, offering overdose education, naloxone and other harm reduction supplies.

A speaking program is scheduled for 3 p.m., featuring Carmen Sanders, who lost her mother to overdose, and Preslee Adkins, who will speak about losing her father and the role of community support.
