There will be rolling roadblocks on I-71/I-75 in Boone and Kenton Counties overnight Thursday to allow state crews to mend pot holes on the effected roadways. As a result, traffic will be slowed to allow the crews to complete their work, and drivers who frequent the area should plan accordingly.
The roadblocks will begin at 10 p.m. and are expected to be completed by 2 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting. The repair work itself will take place around the Turfway Road overpass, both northbound and southbound, but roadblocks will be in place throughout a larger area, affecting several exits. Rolling roadblocks are expected to last 15 minutes each.
As crews are working on I-71/I-75 southbound, road blocks will begin at the I-71/I-75 and I-275 interchange. When crews are working northbound, the road blocks will begin at the Burlington Pike exit.
“Motorists should expect delays, consider alternate routes and avoid the area during the scheduled hours,” the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet recommends. “Please adhere to posted signage. Do not pass crews blocking ramps during the rolling roadblock.”
