Three more candidates jumped into the Florence City Council race just before the 4 p.m. filing deadline last Friday.
Aaron Gillum, Jeffrey Whittaker, and Brian Kinross have all submitted their applications to run for city council, according to the Kentucky Secretary of State’s website. In total, there are 12 candidates competing for seats on the legislative body.
Gillum, Whittaker and Kinross join a crowded race that includes incumbents David Schneider, Lesley Chambers, Gary Winn and Angie Cable, as well as newcomers Shari Kilmer, Jim Leach, Jonathan Trimble, Joe Berkshire and Duane Froelicher.
Florence City Council is made up of six members elected at large, each representing the city as a whole rather than a specific district. Council members serve staggered four-year terms, with elections held during the city’s regular municipal election cycle.
