The Kenton County District Court dismissed charges against former Ludlow Council Member Lori Davenport, who was arrested at a contentious council meeting in August, on Monday.

Davenport was arrested following a round of expletive-laden invective at the dais during the meeting, which focused on whether the city should settle a potential lawsuit with City Administrator Scott Smith.

Court documents show that Davenport was initially charged with obstructing governmental operations, a charge that was amended down to disrupting meetings and processions in September.

LINK nky did not attend the hearing where Judge Kenneth Easterling dismissed the charges with prejudice, meaning they can’t be brought before the court again. The clerk’s office was also not familiar with the details of the case beyond what was available on the public court docket.

Davenport spoke briefly over the phone with LINK nky about the outcome of the hearing, saying that the police didn’t seem to have much information to give the court in order make their case. This was what led to the judge’s dismissal of the charges, she said. LINK nky has reached out to Davenport’s lawyer to corroborate this.
