A Duke Energy employee was safely rescued after being stuck 130 feet in the air for hours in a service elevator on the outside of a smoke stack in Union.
Emergency crews responded to the East Bend Generating Station at 6293 Beaver Road Tuesday morning, per a statement from Duke. The employee was “performing routine maintenance” when one of the station elevators malfunctioned.
The employee is not injured and is “doing well,” per a statement from Duke released a little after 2 p.m.
The employee was consistently in communication with responders, according to Philip Ridgell, public information officer with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
