Shovels are in the ground for the development of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport’s Global Logistics Park.
The development includes constructing three cargo forwarding facilities, three freighter facilities and a sorting facility on an unused rental car parking lot on the north side of the airport’s campus. The installation will allow the airport to expand and diversify its cargo operation.
Earlier in September, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the start of the park’s construction.
F&F LLC, a company owned by Fred Murphy of FEAM Aero, an airplane maintenance company with two large facilities at CVG, will lease and develop 4.5 acres of land as part of the park.
“In recent years, air cargo has been booming at CVG,” CVG CEO Candace McGraw said in an airport press release. “We are the only dual cargo hub airport in North America, and as we look to continue to diversify the airport’s capabilities, partnering with F&F LLC made sense to launch development for general air freight activities at our Global Logistics Park.”
F&F LLC is building an 80,000-square-foot cargo facility with airside access that can handle current and future general air freight needs. The facility will include cargo processing space, associated mezzanine offices, and a minimum of 18 truck docks. According to the press release, the site is expected to be complete in early 2025.
“This new development makes a lot of sense to us as we continue to expand our operations at CVG,” Murphy said in the release. “With FEAM Aero’s deep roots in the aviation industry and our growing presence in cargo maintenance and support, this facility will enable us to further streamline operations and meet the increasing demands of cargo logistics.”
