The Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington is hosting a virtual lecture on the navies of the American Civil War in March.

Titled NKY History Hour: Webbed feet on the Western Waters, the lecture is free and open to the public and will focus on the ways local Cincinnati-area naval forces contributed to the eventual Union victory.

The lecture is part of the museum’s NKY History Hour series, which presents lectures on different topics related to local history every other Wednesday.

Former nuclear submarine crew member and amateur historian Gary Johnson will present the lecture. He also worked with Proctor & Gamble in its Health, Safety and Environment division and currently works with Miami University Institute for Learning in Retirement, where he teaches courses related to naval history and technology.
