Tom Lampe said he wants conservative principles to continue guiding Campbell County and he represents that.
Campbell County is where Lampe grew up and where his family has built their lives. Lampe said he feels called to public service because he wants the county to remain safe and fiscally responsible, with strong infrastructure and access to services.
Lampe faces Democratic challenger Brant Owens in the Nov. 3 general election.
“The values that guide our family – honesty, responsibility, hard work and living within our means should also guide the county government,” Lampe said. “Those conservative values have shaped every decision I’ve made as commissioner – it’s all about taxpayer accountability.”
Lampe said the county has lowered property tax rates by more than 14%, eliminating the Net Profits Tax on small businesses and removing unnecessary fees. He also said the county has consolidated its emergency radio system with neighboring counties, improving public safety while saving Campbell County taxpayers approximately $3.4 million. Lampe said Campbell County has also expanded high- speed internet and safe public water infrastructure countywide – and built strong reserves so Campbell County is prepared for emergencies.
Lampe said he is running for reelection because he is called to community service and his faith and family. Public service is an opportunity, Lampe said, to put his skill set to work for his neighbors and the community – solving problems, protecting the quality of life, and leaving children a Campbell County that is safer, stronger and filled with even greater opportunity.
Should he be reelected, Lampe said his first priority will be working closely with the new judge/executive, Andy Schabell. He said he will leverage his experience, knowledge, and relationships with community partners to ensure an efficient transition for Schabell, and has already started doing so. Lampe said Campbell County must maintain momentum and focus on existing projects and future opportunities as it continues modernizing government to serve residents more efficiently.
