Tom Brinker is an incumbent candidate for the Independence City Council. There are eight candidates running for six spots on the council.
Brinker has lived in Independence since 1995 and is currently serving his fifth term on council. He works as an electrician.
“I decided to run for this office because after volunteering for years I felt I could make a difference in the community by working with and listening to the people who are residents of the city,” said Brinker.
Brinker said his priorities were keeping the tax rate low and ensuring good development in the city. He encouraged the residents to reach out to him with any questions.
“I would like to thank the people of Independence for the privilege of serving them for the last dozen years, and I am always available to answer any questions and assist in any way,” Brinker said.
