Paul Markgraf is the incumbent mayor of Lakeside Park. He will face challenger Jim Wilson at the ballot box in November.
Markgraf was first appointed to the mayor’s seat in 2022 after the previous mayor, David Jansing, resigned; he had previously served on the city council. He was elected mayor in the next election cycle. Markgraf is an attorney and formerly worked as an assistant prosecutor.
Markgraf pointed to revising the city’s ethics code, lowering property tax rates and improving sidewalks as key achievements during his time in office.
“I will continue to lower real property taxes while providing the services our residents have come to expect, including a safe community, good public roads and an efficient, helpful staff,” Markgraf said.
Markgraf also pointed to his work with police as another achievement.
“I have a close relationship with our police department (and have) developed over 22
years of service on the Police Authority Board, serving as chair or vice-chair,” Markgraf said. “The city has joined the Kenton County Navigator program to step in where there are needs that cannot be addressed by law enforcement.”
The Kenton County Navigator program connects social workers to local police departments.
“I want to continue to administer the City of Lakeside Park transparently with
attention to the concerns of residents with fairness and consistency,” said Markgraf. “I will continue to treat all residents with courtesy and respect.”
