Mike Radwanski said he is seeking reelection to the Newport Board of Commissioners to continue projects started since he took office in 2023 and keep the city moving forward.

Radwanski pointed to funding secured for upgrades to several city parks and said he wants to ensure those projects are completed on time and within budget. He also cited Newport’s recent acquisition of former strip clubs and neighboring properties on Monmouth Street.

Radwanski faces Robbie Hall, Jacob Harrod, Ruth Johnson, Ken Rechtin, Julie Smith-Morrow and Aaron Sutherland in the Nov. 3 general election.

“I firmly believe that the city shouldn’t become a developer of these projects,” Radwanski said. “We need to get them activated in a way that generates meaningful jobs and respectable businesses for all to enjoy.”

Radwanski said he views serving as a city commissioner as a way to give back to the community and believes his experience working a full-time job, paying a mortgage and caring for elderly parents helps him relate to Newport residents. He said he has not missed a city commission meeting since taking office.

If reelected, Radwanski said his top priority will continue to be listening to and working for all Newport residents as the city develops future policies and legislation.

Radwanski also pointed to his training through the Kentucky League of Cities. He received a Level III Master of Municipal Governance certification in 2025 after completing more than 90 credit hours of training in areas including planning and zoning, government budgeting, ethics and economic development.
