Meagan Guthrie is one of nine candidates running for the Ludlow City Council. The council has six seats.
Guthrie was appointed to the council last fall when former Council Member Sarah Thompson was appointed to fill the mayor’s seat after previous Mayor Chris Wright resigned before the end of his term. She works as the director of addiction response for Hamilton County in Ohio.
“I want to help move Ludlow beyond the distractions and controversies that have too often made headlines and instead focus on what truly matters: responsible fiscal management, transparent government and long-term community growth,” Guthrie said. “My goal is for the City of Ludlow to be recognized not for political turmoil but for the positive things happening in our city.”
To that end, Guthrie said she wanted to focus on stabilizing the city’s budget and providing greater access to the budgetary process for citizens, especially in the face of Ludlow’s comparatively high property tax rate.
“At a time when families are facing significant economic pressures, taxpayers deserve experienced leadership that will maximize every dollar and deliver clear results for their hard-earned money,” Guthrie said.
Finally, she said it was important to build the small business landscape in Ludlow.
“We must be proactive in supporting our small businesses and creating the conditions for greater economic vibrancy throughout our business district,” Guthrie said. “That means cutting unnecessary red tape, streamlining processes and building strong regional partnerships that position Ludlow to compete and collaborate with neighboring river cities.”
