Matthew Fehler is an incumbent candidate on the Independence City Council. There are eight candidates running for six spots on the council. Fehler did not respond to LINK nky‘s interview inquiry.
Fehler is a former police officer who is serving his first term on the council. He has expressed interest in becoming the mayor of Independence at some point in the future but is running for the city council this year.
“I’m a proud father and husband,” Fehler wrote on a profile for the City of Independence’s website. “I love spending time with my family and friends. I have God in my life and heart. I believe random acts of kindness can move mountains. I’m kind hearted, trustworthy and I truly listen to other’s needs.”
When he ran in 2024, he told LINK nky that his “primary focus as a City Council member will be to listen to and represent the voices of Independence’s citizens. I am committed to engaging with the community, gathering input and ensuring that the needs and concerns of our residents guide the decisions I make.”
