Elizabeth Hartman said she is running for Southgate City Council because she cares about the community and believes effective leadership begins with listening to residents.
Hartman said she has brought numerous issues to council and has worked to give Southgate residents a way to have their voices heard.
Hartman faces Alec Angel, Jackson Curry, Jason Lanham, Aileen Okura, Daniel Speier, Tommy Whitehead and Phyllis Yeager in the Nov. 3 general election.
“Public service is about more than holding a position—it is about being accessible, listening to concerns, solving problems, and working to build a stronger community,” Hartman said. “I am motivated by the idea that good leadership can bring people together and create opportunities that benefit everyone.”
Hartman said her first priority if elected will be identifying problems facing Southgate and working toward solutions. She acknowledged that change can take time and that some of the things she would like to see accomplished in the city could take more than a few years to complete.
Hartman said she wants to continue listening to residents, addressing their concerns and working on issues brought before the city.
