David Costas is the challenger candidate for the Park Hills mayoral seat, set to face off against incumbent Kathy Zembrodt in November.
When asked why he wanted to run, Costas said, “Residents, especially young families, are growing more and more frustrated by the city’s crony government,” adding he believed that the city’s current leadership was more concerned with its own passion projects than residents’ concerns.
He advocated that elected officials communicate only on city-issued phones subject to open records requests. He also wanted to see improvements on Amsterdam Road, “sidewalks for all residents” and an expansion of the city’s parks and green space, including protections for the city’s historic trees.
Commercial development within the city, he said, “must be in the best interest of the city and its residents.”
Finally, Costas said, “end all the drama. There is no reason a city of our size should be embroiled in such constant drama on the regional stage.”
